ABB is hiring an Associate R&D Engineer – Cyber Security to join its Process Automation Business in Bangalore. This role is an excellent opportunity for fresh graduates and early-career professionals who are passionate about Cyber Security, Network Security, Application Security, Embedded Systems Security, and Security Research. In this role, you will perform comprehensive security assessments of embedded devices, web applications, APIs, mobile applications, cloud-connected platforms, and industrial software. You will utilize vulnerability assessment techniques, penetration testing methodologies, fuzz testing, and security scanning tools to identify weaknesses and recommend effective mitigation strategies. Your work will involve researching emerging cyber threats, evaluating new security testing methodologies, integrating automated security tools into DevOps pipelines, and collaborating closely with development and quality assurance teams to ensure secure software delivery. Exposure to technologies such as Python automation, Azure DevOps, Flask, Django, Selenium, and modern security frameworks will help you develop practical experience across multiple domains of application and infrastructure security.

Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive security assessments of embedded devices, industrial software, web applications, APIs, mobile applications, and cloud-connected platforms to identify potential security vulnerabilities.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, fuzz testing, port scanning, and network security evaluations using industry-standard security tools and methodologies.
- Analyze security testing results, investigate identified vulnerabilities, determine root causes, and prepare detailed technical reports with actionable remediation recommendations.
- Collaborate closely with software developers, quality assurance teams, product managers, and engineering stakeholders to resolve security issues and improve secure software development practices.
- Evaluate emerging cybersecurity testing methodologies, tools, frameworks, and best practices to strengthen organizational security testing capabilities.
- Perform security testing of Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, communication interfaces, industrial protocols, and cloud connectivity technologies used in ABB automation solutions.
- Research and assess communication protocols, APIs, cloud integration mechanisms, and industrial networking technologies to identify potential security risks and recommend improvements.
- Develop and maintain Python-based automation scripts and testing frameworks that improve security testing efficiency, repeatability, and overall productivity.
- Integrate automated security scanning tools into Azure DevOps build pipelines to support continuous security validation throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Execute web application security assessments by evaluating authentication mechanisms, session management, input validation, access controls, and OWASP Top 10 vulnerabilities.
- Support API security testing for REST and SOAP services while validating authentication, authorization, encryption, and secure communication protocols.
- Maintain technical documentation covering testing methodologies, vulnerability findings, remediation guidance, automation scripts, and security best practices.
Requirements & Eligibility
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics Engineering, Cyber Security, Information Security, or a related engineering discipline with 0–2 years of experience in cybersecurity or software engineering.
- Candidates with M.Tech in Cyber Security or Networking and a minimum CGPA of 6.5 are also encouraged to apply.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking, networking fundamentals, communication protocols, routing concepts, and application-layer protocols used in modern software systems.
- Good knowledge of Vulnerability Assessment, Penetration Testing (VAPT), Fuzz Testing, Port Scanning, Exploitation Techniques, and Security Assessment Methodologies.
- Familiarity with OWASP Top 10, SANS Top 25 Vulnerabilities, secure coding practices, and vulnerability mitigation techniques.
- Understanding of Web Application Security, API Security (REST and SOAP), Mobile Application Security, Authentication, Authorization, Session Management, and Secure Communication Protocols.
- Hands-on programming knowledge in Python with experience in automation scripting, object-oriented programming, and security testing frameworks.
- Familiarity with Flask, Django, Selenium, PyTest, or similar frameworks used for application development and test automation.
- Knowledge of Linux, Windows, macOS, operating system internals, and system administration concepts relevant to cybersecurity.
- Understanding of Cryptography, SSL/TLS, PKI, secure communication protocols, digital certificates, and encryption technologies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to Java, Shell Scripting, GoLang, or other programming languages used for security automation and software development.
- Experience integrating security tools into Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, or DevSecOps workflows.
- Knowledge of industrial communication protocols, embedded device security, cloud security, IoT security, and automation systems.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, technical writing skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Expected Salary
The expected salary for the Associate R&D Engineer – Cyber Security role at ABB typically ranges between ₹7 LPA and ₹12 LPA for candidates with 0–2 years of experience, depending on academic qualifications, cybersecurity expertise, internship experience, technical skills, and interview performance.
