Roles & Responsibilities

1. Design, develop, and maintain highly scalable software applications that support Akamai’s content delivery, cloud, and edge computing infrastructure.
2. Collaborate with product managers, architects, and engineering teams to understand business requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.
3. Develop new product features and functionalities while ensuring optimal performance, maintainability, and scalability across applications.
4. Enhance and optimize existing software systems by identifying bottlenecks, improving efficiency, and implementing best engineering practices.
5. Build and integrate RESTful APIs and microservices that enable seamless communication between various internal and customer-facing platforms.
6. Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to technical decisions that improve system reliability, security, and operational excellence.
7. Work with databases and data storage systems to ensure efficient data management, retrieval, and performance optimization.
8. Utilize CI/CD pipelines and automation tools to streamline software deployment, testing, and release management processes.
9. Monitor application performance using observability and monitoring tools, proactively resolving issues before they impact customers.
10. Contribute to code reviews, technical documentation, and knowledge-sharing initiatives to maintain high engineering standards.
11. Collaborate with global teams to troubleshoot production issues and deliver timely resolutions for critical business applications.
12. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives by suggesting innovative ideas, process enhancements, and technology upgrades.

Requirements & Eligibility

1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or an equivalent technical discipline with strong academic credentials.
2. Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles, software development methodologies, and system design fundamentals.
3. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or Java, with the ability to write clean, maintainable, and efficient code.
4. Knowledge of RESTful APIs, Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), and microservices-based application development.
5. Familiarity with modern development frameworks such as Angular, Django, Spring, Spring Boot, or Apache Airflow for building enterprise applications.
6. Experience working with relational and non-relational databases including PostgreSQL, Oracle Database, Cassandra, or similar database technologies.
7. Strong understanding of Linux operating systems, command-line tools, and server management fundamentals.
8. Knowledge of computer networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, HTTPS, load balancing, and internet infrastructure principles.
9. Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and tools such as Jenkins, Maven, Git, and automated deployment frameworks.
10. Experience using monitoring and observability platforms such as Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus, or similar tools to maintain application health and performance.
11. Strong problem-solving, analytical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced engineering environment.

Expected Salary

The expected salary for a Software Engineer at Akamai India typically ranges between ₹10 LPA and ₹22 LPA depending on educational background, technical skills, internship experience, and overall performance during the hiring process.
