As a Software Engineer at Cisco, you will participate in the complete software development lifecycle, including technical design, coding, debugging, testing, deployment, and product enhancement. Roles & Responsibilities

• Design, develop, implement, test, and maintain high-quality software applications, networking solutions, embedded systems, or cloud platforms while following modern software engineering best practices.
• Participate in the complete Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including requirement analysis, technical design, coding, unit testing, debugging, deployment, and continuous product enhancement.
• Develop secure, scalable, and high-performance software using object-oriented programming principles, clean coding standards, and Cisco's secure software development methodologies.
• Collaborate with software engineers, product managers, quality assurance teams, architects, and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver innovative technology solutions that address customer needs.
• Write well-structured, maintainable, and thoroughly tested code while participating in peer code reviews and incorporating constructive feedback to improve software quality.
• Troubleshoot software defects, investigate production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement effective solutions that improve system reliability and performance.
• Execute functional, integration, performance, scalability, and reliability testing to ensure software products meet quality standards before deployment.
• Contribute to networking software, embedded systems, cloud-native applications, security solutions, operating systems, databases, development tools, or Internet technologies depending on project requirements.
• Monitor application performance, participate in incident management, assist with post-incident reviews, and contribute to continuous improvements in software development processes.
• Continuously learn emerging technologies, programming languages, networking protocols, cloud platforms, and software engineering practices while sharing technical knowledge with teammates.

Requirements & Eligibility

• Candidates must be 2027 graduates pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, or a related engineering discipline.
• Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals including data structures, algorithms, operating systems, object-oriented programming, computer architecture, and software engineering principles.
• Excellent programming skills in Python are highly preferred. Knowledge of Java, C, C++, Go, JavaScript, or other programming languages will be considered an added advantage.
• Good understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Agile methodologies, version control systems, software testing, debugging, and secure coding practices.
• Basic knowledge of TCP/IP networking, routing, switching, network protocols, and enterprise networking concepts is required for networking-related software engineering roles.
• Familiarity with cybersecurity concepts such as firewalls, VPNs, IPS/IDS, TLS, IPsec, network security, threat detection, and secure application development will be beneficial.
• Understanding of cloud computing concepts, distributed systems, scalable application development, microservices, and cloud-native architectures is desirable for application software roles.
• Exposure to embedded systems, operating systems, kernel programming, device drivers, system programming, or hardware-software integration will be advantageous for embedded engineering positions.
• Strong analytical thinking, debugging abilities, problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn new technologies are essential for success at Cisco.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, teamwork, adaptability, leadership potential, and the ability to collaborate effectively in a global engineering environment are highly valued.

Expected Salary

The estimated compensation for a Software Engineer at Cisco India under the Code with Cisco hiring program generally ranges between ₹14 LPA and ₹22 LPA, depending on academic performance, technical skills, internship experience, coding proficiency, and interview performance.
