bp is seeking talented and passionate Software Engineers to join its Technology team in Pune, India. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to bp pulse, the company’s electric vehicle (EV) charging business, which plays a vital role in supporting bp’s ambition to achieve Net Zero by 2050. As part of the bp pulse eMSP team, you will work on innovative customer-facing applications and technology solutions that enable seamless EV charging experiences for millions of users worldwide. The team manages a broad portfolio of in-house products and third-party integrations, ensuring the reliability, scalability, and security of bp’s rapidly expanding EV ecosystem.
As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, maintaining, and enhancing software systems that power critical business operations and customer experiences. The role involves collaborating with engineers, product teams, and stakeholders to create scalable cloud-based solutions while ensuring high levels of availability, performance, and security. You will participate in the entire software development lifecycle, including architecture discussions, coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement. Engineers in this role are expected to leverage modern development practices and cloud technologies to deliver robust software that supports bp’s global operations and sustainability initiatives.

Roles & Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain software applications, services, and infrastructure components that support bp pulse’s EV charging ecosystem and customer-facing platforms.
- Build scalable, secure, and high-performing software solutions while ensuring adherence to software engineering best practices and coding standards.
- Monitor production systems proactively to identify performance bottlenecks, reliability issues, and opportunities for optimization and enhancement.
- Collaborate with product managers, architects, and cross-functional engineering teams to deliver innovative technology solutions aligned with business goals.
- Troubleshoot complex software and infrastructure issues across distributed systems and cloud environments, ensuring minimal service disruption.
- Participate in software design reviews, code reviews, testing processes, and deployment activities to maintain high-quality software releases.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including software design specifications, operational support guides, and system architecture records.
- Automate routine operational tasks and improve system efficiency through scripting, cloud-native tooling, and infrastructure automation practices.
- Support production environments through monitoring, incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous service improvement initiatives.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing, technical coaching, and engineering capability development within the team.
- Implement security and privacy best practices across applications, infrastructure, databases, and cloud services.
- Contribute to the continuous evolution of technology platforms by evaluating emerging technologies and recommending innovative engineering solutions.
Requirements & Eligibility
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Demonstrated professional experience in software development with a strong understanding of software engineering principles and development methodologies.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, C#, or TypeScript for building scalable and maintainable applications.
- Experience developing secure, testable, stable, and production-ready software solutions with a focus on performance and reliability.
- Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including coding standards, code reviews, testing, deployment, and operations.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Microsoft Azure, including core services related to networking, databases, storage, and compute.
- Experience working with distributed systems, troubleshooting production environments, and supporting cloud-based applications.
- Knowledge of relational and non-relational databases, data modeling concepts, database design, and SQL query development.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and implement effective technical solutions.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities, capable of collaborating with technical teams and business leaders.
- Ability to adapt quickly to new technologies, work independently, manage ambiguity, and drive projects to successful completion.
