Job Description:

In this role, you will be responsible for working with geospatial datasets, performing spatial analysis, and developing automation solutions using Python-based GIS tools. You will handle tasks such as geocoding, reverse geocoding, raster and vector data processing, and integration of geospatial data with relational databases. By leveraging tools like GeoPandas, ArcPy, PyQGIS, and GDAL, you will ensure data accuracy, consistency, and performance across applications, contributing to high-quality data-driven solutions.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation and management of geospatial and remote sensing components for large-scale BINS databases, ensuring accuracy and scalability of spatial data systems.
  • Apply geospatial concepts and remote sensing techniques to solve real-world problems, ensuring practical implementation of theoretical knowledge.
  • Perform regular updating and maintenance of geospatial databases, including geocoding and reverse geocoding processes to enhance data usability.
  • Design and implement GIS automation solutions using Python libraries such as GeoPandas, ArcPy, and PyQGIS, improving workflow efficiency and reducing manual effort.
  • Work with geospatial tools and technologies such as GDAL to manage spatial projections, raster and vector data processing, and coordinate transformations.
  • Conduct detailed geospatial analysis to validate spatial accuracy, consistency, and integrity of datasets used in critical applications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional research teams to ensure adherence to best practices in geospatial data management and analytics.
  • Develop and validate code for integrating geospatial data with relational databases, ensuring seamless data connectivity and performance.
  • Create maps, charts, and visualizations to effectively communicate analytical findings and support decision-making processes.
  • Prepare technical documentation and deliver presentations explaining methodologies, workflows, and results to internal teams and clients.

Requirements & Eligibility:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geo-Informatics, Remote Sensing, GIS, Data Science, or related spatial technologies, with a strong academic foundation in geospatial concepts.
  • Proficiency in GIS software such as QGIS, ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Pro, and Google Earth Pro for spatial analysis and mapping tasks.
  • Hands-on experience with geospatial libraries and tools including GDAL, Rasterio, GeoPandas, Fiona, Shapely, and PyProj for advanced data processing.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and/or R, with the ability to automate geospatial workflows and perform data analysis efficiently.
  • Working knowledge of relational databases such as PostgreSQL and SQL Server, including spatial data integration and querying.
  • Understanding of geospatial concepts such as coordinate systems, spatial projections, raster and vector data models, and spatial indexing.
  • Experience in designing, developing, and maintaining geospatial databases and performing spatial data analysis.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle large and complex datasets effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills for technical documentation, reporting, and presenting insights to stakeholders.
  • Positive attitude, willingness to learn new technologies, and ability to work independently while adapting to feedback and team collaboration.
