In this role, you will take ownership of designing, developing, and implementing cost-effective, high-quality manufacturing test systems that ensure reliability, safety, and scalability of Rockwell Automation products.

Reporting to the Manager, Test Engineering, you will act as a technical leader responsible for advancing test strategies, improving test coverage, reducing cost, and accelerating time-to-market. Your work will span electrical design, mechanical fixtures, test software, and documentation, supporting both new product introductions and ongoing production. This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy deep hardware–software integration, manufacturing-scale problem solving, and continuous improvement in a high-impact industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance speed, cost efficiency, and quality of automated PCBA testing processes.

  • Design electrical circuitry for test systems, including component sizing and vendor coordination for fixture development.

  • Select and implement appropriate test strategies to ensure comprehensive coverage and manufacturing-safe solutions.

  • Develop, debug, and maintain test software and hardware using In-Circuit Test (ICT) and Flying Probe platforms.

  • Implement advanced testing methodologies such as Boundary Scan, processor-controlled testing, cluster testing, and device programming.

  • Create and maintain detailed documentation including manufacturing test plans, test specifications, and test coverage reports.

  • Provide Design for Test (DFT) feedback to product development teams during early design phases.

  • Develop structured PCBA validation and test plans aligned with design requirements.

  • Support departmental strategic planning, including expense control and capital budgeting.

  • Manage procurement and installation of PCBA test-related capital equipment across manufacturing sites.

  • Apply Lean Six Sigma tools to drive test system optimization and continuous improvement.

  • Provide expert-level troubleshooting support during critical production downtime situations.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field.

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States (visa sponsorship not available).

  • Ability to travel up to 10% as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience as a Test Engineer in manufacturing or product development environments.

  • Experience with Keysight 3070 In-Circuit Test and Takaya Flying Probe platforms.

  • Strong background in advanced ICT testing techniques including boundary scan and device programming.

  • Experience handling multiple projects simultaneously in a production-focused environment.

  • Familiarity with Test Expert or similar Design for Testability (DFT) analysis tools.

  • Programming experience in C, C++, C#, NI TestStand, Visual Basic, or similar languages.

  • Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics, bills of materials (BOMs), and hardware designs.

  • Solid understanding of electronic hardware design principles and manufacturing constraints.
