Job Description:

The Automation Java Test Engineer role at Citi is a senior-level opportunity for experienced QA professionals to lead automation initiatives for enterprise-scale financial applications. The role also includes API automation using tools like REST Assured and Postman, enabling end-to-end validation of modern microservices architectures.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable automation frameworks using Java, Selenium WebDriver, TestNG, and JUnit for enterprise applications.
• Create comprehensive test strategies, test plans, and test cases, ensuring full coverage of functional and non-functional requirements.
• Perform API automation testing using tools like REST Assured and Postman, ensuring seamless backend validation.
• Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps.
• Collaborate with development and product teams to understand requirements, identify risks, and ensure high-quality deliverables.
• Perform root cause analysis of defects and work closely with developers to resolve issues efficiently.
• Mentor junior and mid-level QA engineers, providing guidance on automation frameworks, coding standards, and best practices.
• Work with databases to validate data integrity, writing complex SQL queries for testing and analysis.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of QA processes, tools, and methodologies to enhance efficiency and quality.
• Stay updated with the latest testing tools, technologies, and industry trends, recommending improvements where necessary.

Requirements & Eligibility:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, with strong fundamentals in software development and testing.
• 7+ years of experience in software quality assurance, with at least 4 years focused on automation testing.
• Expert-level proficiency in Java programming, enabling development of robust automation frameworks.
• Extensive experience with Selenium WebDriver and frameworks like TestNG or JUnit for automation testing.
• Experience with BDD frameworks such as Cucumber or Serenity BDD for structured and behavior-driven testing.
• Hands-on experience in API testing using REST Assured, Postman, or similar tools.
• Strong knowledge of CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps for integrating automated testing workflows.
• Proficiency in version control systems like Git, ensuring efficient collaboration and code management.
• Understanding of relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, MongoDB) with the ability to write complex queries.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to lead teams and handle complex challenges.
