Alfa Laval is hiring a Java Backend Developer Specialist for its Global IT Delivery Centre in Pune. As a global engineering leader driving sustainable innovation, Alfa Laval delivers high-performance solutions across industries such as energy, marine, food, and water. This role plays a crucial part in the continued evolution of the company’s Product Configuration Platform, a core system that enables customization of complex products for customers worldwide. You will work within a hybrid global delivery model, collaborating closely with teams in Sweden, Denmark, the USA, and other regions to design and implement scalable backend systems that power business-critical configurator services.
As a senior backend specialist, you will contribute to the architecture, development, and maintenance of Java-based web applications using Spring and Spring Boot frameworks. The role demands expertise in solving complex engineering problems involving concurrency, multithreading, and caching strategies to ensure performance and reliability. You will actively participate in Agile development cycles, CI/CD workflows, and platform support activities, including third-line technical support. Beyond technical delivery, you will mentor junior developers, contribute to documentation, and influence architectural direction—ensuring that the configurator platform remains scalable, secure, and aligned with Alfa Laval’s global digital transformation roadmap.
Roles & Responsibilities

Design, develop, and enhance backend components of the Alfa Laval Product Configurator platform using Java, Spring, and Spring Boot.

Architect scalable and high-performance web applications with focus on concurrency, multithreading, and caching strategies.

Collaborate with cross-functional global teams to implement new features, improvements, and system enhancements.

Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to sprint planning, backlog refinement, and delivery governance processes.

Provide third-line technical support for the running configurator platform, ensuring system stability and uptime.

Maintain and update technical documentation including system architecture, component setup, and operational guidelines.

Integrate backend services with CI/CD pipelines using Git, Maven, and Azure DevOps to ensure seamless deployments.

Work closely with frontend developers and business stakeholders to align technical solutions with product requirements.

Mentor and guide junior developers, fostering knowledge sharing and high-quality coding standards within the team.

Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, exploring cloud hosting, security standards, and performance optimization techniques.
Requirements & Eligibility

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent technical education.

8–10 years of hands-on experience in Java backend development within enterprise web application environments.

Strong expertise in Spring and Spring Boot frameworks for designing RESTful and scalable backend services.

Proven experience handling complex technical challenges involving Java concurrency, multithreading, and caching mechanisms.

Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git version control, Maven build tools, and application servers such as Tomcat.

Familiarity with Azure cloud hosting and related DevOps tools such as Azure Pipelines is advantageous.

Knowledge of OAuth2, GraphQL, Elastic, or Kibana for authentication, API management, and monitoring is considered a plus.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate complex system requirements independently.

Effective communication skills to collaborate across global teams in India, Sweden, Bosnia, and other locations.

Expected Salary
