Job Description:

Cognizant’s GenC hiring program is designed to onboard promising engineering graduates who are eager to begin their careers in the IT and digital services industry. In this position, you will work within Agile-driven project environments, collaborating with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions. The role involves developing, testing, debugging, and deploying applications while adhering to the Software Development Life Cycle. You will also gain exposure to documentation, low-level design creation, and test scenario development, ensuring solutions are scalable, efficient, and aligned with quality benchmarks.

Beyond technical execution, the GenC role emphasizes continuous learning and adaptability. Roles & Responsibilities:

• Understand detailed business requirements, ask relevant clarifying questions, and document functional and technical specifications clearly.

• Design, develop, test, debug, and deploy application code in line with project requirements and organizational coding standards.

• Analyze data requirements and create comprehensive test scenarios to ensure application reliability and performance.

• Work within Agile and SDLC frameworks, ensuring timely delivery of assigned tasks and sprint commitments.

• Prepare low-level design documents for application components to support scalable and maintainable solutions.

• Identify task priorities, manage deadlines effectively, and proactively highlight risks or potential points of failure.

• Take complete ownership of assigned deliverables and ensure outcomes meet quality, timeline, and cost expectations.

• Participate actively in project meetings, code reviews, and technical discussions as part of the development team.

• Collaborate closely with peers, leads, and stakeholders to build high-quality, business-aligned solutions.

• Continuously upgrade technical skills and adapt to new tools, platforms, and technologies as required by projects.

Requirements & Eligibility:

• B.E / B.Tech / M.E / M.Tech graduates from the 2024 or 2025 batch in eligible engineering streams, excluding non-relevant technologies.

• Consistent academic performance with a minimum of 60% across X, XII, Diploma, UG, and PG without any rounding off.

• No standing arrears at the time of application and joining, with a minimum 60% aggregate in the pursuing degree.

• Strong understanding of programming fundamentals, software development concepts, and basic data structures.

• Familiarity with SDLC, Agile methodologies, and application development environments.

• Good analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret requirements and convert them into technical solutions.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively within teams and stakeholders.

• Willingness to work from any Cognizant office location across shifts, technologies, and project needs.

• Open to Indian nationals and OCIs currently residing in India with valid documentation.

• Strong learning mindset with flexibility to upskill, reskill, and adapt to evolving technology landscapes.

Expected Salary:

The expected compensation for the Cognizant GenC Engineer role is approximately ₹4 LPA, aligning with industry standards for entry-level IT roles in India.
