Morningstar is inviting applications for the Apprentice position in its Data and Operations team based in Mumbai. As an Apprentice, you will work with a wide variety of financial datasets, including public equity filings, private market transactions, ESG taxonomies, managed investment data, and reference entity information. Roles & Responsibilities
- Search, collect, validate, and maintain financial and investment-related data from multiple trusted sources while ensuring high levels of accuracy, completeness, and compliance with organizational quality standards.
- Verify public equity filings, private market transactions, ESG information, managed investment data, and reference entity records by following established methodologies and operational guidelines.
- Respond to internal stakeholder queries and support client-related requests by providing accurate data updates and ensuring information aligns with Morningstar's quality and policy requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to investigate data discrepancies, resolve operational issues, and improve the overall quality and consistency of financial datasets.
- Learn and apply Morningstar's research methodologies, data collection processes, and reporting standards to maintain productivity, quality, and timely delivery of assigned tasks.
- Utilize Microsoft Excel, SQL, Power BI, and other data management tools to organize, analyze, validate, and report financial information while continuously improving technical proficiency.
- Maintain detailed operational documentation, perform regular quality checks, and ensure all assigned work adheres to company policies, compliance standards, and process guidelines.
- Prioritize multiple assignments efficiently while meeting strict deadlines and maintaining exceptional attention to detail in a dynamic, shift-based work environment.
- Participate actively in structured training sessions, knowledge-sharing initiatives, and professional development programs to enhance financial domain expertise and technical capabilities.
- Support continuous process improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to increase operational efficiency, reduce data errors, and enhance reporting accuracy across business functions.
Requirements & Eligibility
- Bachelor's degree (preferably in Finance) graduating in 2026 with a minimum of 60% academic marks from a recognized university. Candidates holding postgraduate or master's degrees are not eligible for this apprenticeship.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills with the ability to understand business requirements, communicate professionally, and collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel and Word, with the willingness to develop advanced spreadsheet and reporting skills.
- Basic understanding of financial markets, investment products, accounting concepts, or business operations will be an added advantage for candidates interested in investment research.
- Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail with the ability to verify financial information, identify inconsistencies, and maintain high standards of data accuracy.
- Demonstrated curiosity, eagerness to learn, and a proactive approach toward acquiring new technical and financial domain knowledge through structured training programs.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining productivity, meeting deadlines, and delivering quality work in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Familiarity with SQL, Power BI, data analytics concepts, or business intelligence tools is beneficial but not mandatory, as comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided.
- Candidates should be willing to work from the Mumbai office, preferably residing in Mumbai, and should be comfortable working rotational morning, evening, and night shifts as required.
- Strong teamwork, adaptability, problem-solving abilities, and professional work ethics are essential for collaborating successfully within Morningstar's global Data and Operations team.
Expected Salary
The Morningstar Apprentice program offers a monthly stipend of approximately ₹22,000 during the apprenticeship period of 6 to 12 months. While this is a training-focused opportunity, apprentices gain valuable hands-on experience in financial data operations, investment research, and business intelligence, significantly improving their employability for future full-time roles in financial services, analytics, investment management, and data operations. Compensation for permanent positions after successful completion of the apprenticeship may vary depending on business requirements, performance, and market standards.
