Job Description
As a Data Center Technician at Google, you will become part of the world-class Technical Infrastructure team responsible for powering one of the most complex technology ecosystems globally. This early-career opportunity for 2026 graduates offers hands-on exposure to large-scale data center operations, server infrastructure, and enterprise networking systems. Working within the Hardware Operations team, you will install, configure, test, troubleshoot, and maintain servers and related hardware components that form the backbone of Google’s products and services. This role is ideal for candidates who are passionate about Linux systems, networking fundamentals, and real-world hardware environments.
At Google, data centers are more than facilities—they are the engines that drive search, cloud platforms, and global digital services. You will work on configuring Linux-based systems, diagnosing hardware issues, and supporting complex networking infrastructure such as routers, switches, and storage devices. The position involves both technical troubleshooting and physical tasks like rack installations, offering a unique blend of software, hardware, and operational engineering exposure. This experience provides a strong foundation for long-term careers in site reliability engineering, infrastructure engineering, and cloud operations.
Beyond technical execution, the role emphasizes collaboration and continuous improvement. You will work closely with remote engineering teams to identify trends in machine failures, report issues, and contribute to infrastructure enhancement projects. Google’s data center teams focus on operational efficiency, sustainability, and performance optimization. If you are excited by hands-on engineering, large-scale systems, and the opportunity to work behind the scenes of global technology infrastructure, this role provides an unmatched entry point into enterprise-grade data center engineering.
