This role is ideal for professionals with 1–3 years of experience in cybersecurity, vulnerability management, SIEM monitoring, and system administration. As one of India’s leading digital payments platforms handling millions of daily transactions, PhonePe requires robust infrastructure security and continuous monitoring to protect sensitive financial systems and customer data. The System Engineer will work closely with security operations, infrastructure, and compliance teams to detect vulnerabilities, analyze threats, and ensure secure deployment of patches across enterprise systems. Candidates who are passionate about cyber defense, log monitoring, Linux administration, and automation scripting will find this role highly rewarding and technically challenging.

In this cybersecurity engineering role, the selected candidate will be responsible for managing end-to-end vulnerability remediation processes using advanced tools such as Wazuh, ELK Stack, Splunk, Nessus, OpenVAS, and Endpoint Detection and Response platforms. The role demands hands-on expertise in monitoring server and workstation environments, performing security assessments, analyzing system logs, and implementing remediation strategies to minimize security risks. PhonePe values engineers who can work in fast-paced environments, think analytically, and automate repetitive operational tasks through Python, PowerShell, or Bash scripting. The System Engineer will also contribute toward improving organizational security posture through compliance checks, audit preparation, drift monitoring, and implementation of industry best practices aligned with ISO 27001 and CIS Benchmarks.

Working at PhonePe offers professionals the opportunity to build systems that impact millions of users across India’s growing fintech ecosystem. The company promotes a culture of ownership, innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning, making it an excellent workplace for aspiring cybersecurity professionals. Engineers in this role will gain exposure to enterprise-grade cloud security practices, network monitoring frameworks, Active Directory management, and incident response operations. This position also provides an excellent platform for candidates aiming to grow into Security Operations Center (SOC) engineering, cloud security, infrastructure security, or threat intelligence domains. If you are passionate about cybersecurity operations, infrastructure protection, and security automation, this System Engineer opportunity at PhonePe can significantly accelerate your career in the cybersecurity industry.

  • Familiarity with vulnerability assessment tools like Nessus or OpenVAS and the ability to interpret scan results based on business risk and security impact.
  • Experience in scripting and automation using Python, PowerShell, or Bash for automating security workflows, reporting, and administrative operations.
  • Understanding of cloud security fundamentals, shared responsibility models, IAM configurations, and secure access management across AWS, Azure, or GCP environments.
  • Relevant cybersecurity certifications such as CEH, CompTIA Security+, CCNA Security, or equivalent credentials will be considered an added advantage.
