Job Description:
Jar is hiring an SDET - 1 in Bengaluru to strengthen its quality engineering team and ensure the reliability of its rapidly growing fintech platform. You will play a key role in ensuring that Jarโs mobile applications and APIs meet the highest standards of quality, performance, and usability before reaching customers.
In this role, you will work closely with developers, product managers, and designers to test new features, identify defects, and improve overall product stability. You will be responsible for manual testing across mobile platforms, API validation, regression testing, exploratory testing, and bug tracking throughout the software testing lifecycle. The role requires a strong understanding of QA methodologies, debugging techniques, and testing tools to ensure smooth releases in a fast-paced startup environment. You will also contribute to improving testing processes and ensuring that applications function reliably under real-world conditions.

Roles & Responsibilities:
- Perform manual testing of mobile applications and APIs to ensure functionality, usability, performance, and reliability across platforms.
- Design, create, maintain, and execute detailed test cases and test plans based on business requirements and feature specifications.
- Conduct smoke testing, regression testing, exploratory testing, and end-to-end validation before product releases.
- Identify, document, and track software defects using tools like Jira while ensuring timely follow-up and resolution.
- Collaborate closely with developers, designers, and product teams to improve feature quality and enhance user experience.
- Participate actively in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and other Agile ceremonies to provide QA insights.
- Analyze application behavior, debug issues systematically, and assist in root cause analysis for production and testing defects.
- Validate APIs using tools such as Postman and monitor network traffic or debugging flows using Charles Proxy or Proxyman.
- Execute database-level validations using SQL or MongoDB queries to verify data consistency and backend functionality.
- Contribute to improving QA processes, testing strategies, and software quality standards across the product lifecycle.
Requirements & Eligibility:
- Bachelorโs degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 1โ3 years of hands-on experience in manual testing for mobile applications and APIs in product-based or technology-driven environments.
- Strong understanding of Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC), QA methodologies, and defect management processes.
- Familiarity with Java and basic Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) concepts is preferred.
- Experience using testing and debugging tools such as Postman, Charles Proxy, Proxyman, or similar platforms.
- Ability to create detailed test cases, execute testing scenarios, and document defects effectively.
- Basic knowledge of SQL and MongoDB queries for backend data validation and database testing.
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and collaboration tools like Jira for bug tracking and sprint management.
- Strong analytical thinking, debugging capabilities, and a structured approach to identifying and resolving issues.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced startup environment.
Expected Salary:
The expected salary for an SDET - 1 role at Jar in Bengaluru generally ranges between โน8 LPA to โน15 LPA for professionals with 1โ3 years of experience. Compensation may vary depending on testing expertise, fintech domain exposure, and technical problem-solving abilities.
