Job Description

IBM is hiring a Quality Engineer (Packages) to join its Consulting division in Bangalore. As part of IBM Consulting’s Client Innovation Centers, this role focuses on delivering high-quality software solutions for global clients across industries. The Quality Engineer will specialize in testing enterprise applications built on ERP platforms such as SAP, Oracle eBusiness Suite, and other industry-specific solutions. This role plays a critical part in ensuring that business applications are reliable, scalable, and aligned with both technical and functional requirements in complex enterprise environments.

The position involves designing and executing comprehensive test strategies for ERP-based systems. The Quality Engineer will create optimized test scenarios, identify test data requirements, and execute both manual and automated testing processes. By working closely with developers, business analysts, and stakeholders, the engineer will validate system functionality, ensure data integrity, and identify defects early in the development lifecycle. The role requires a strong understanding of business processes, ERP workflows, and testing methodologies to ensure seamless integration of enterprise systems.

In addition to testing responsibilities, the role emphasizes continuous improvement and collaboration. The Quality Engineer will analyze test outcomes, provide insights to enhance testing processes, and contribute to improving overall software quality. By participating in Agile development cycles and maintaining regular communication with stakeholders, the engineer ensures timely delivery of high-quality solutions. Roles & Responsibilities

  1. Design and develop optimized test scenarios and test cases for ERP-based applications to ensure comprehensive test coverage.

  2. Execute manual and automated test cases to validate application functionality, performance, and reliability.

  3. Identify test data requirements and configure test environments to support accurate testing processes.

  4. Analyze test outcomes to detect defects, identify improvement areas, and enhance testing efficiency.

  5. Collaborate with development teams and business stakeholders to understand requirements and ensure accurate validation of system functionality.

  6. Plan and estimate testing activities to ensure timely delivery of testing phases within project timelines.

  7. Provide regular updates on testing progress, risks, and issues to stakeholders and project teams.

  8. Perform functional, integration, and regression testing for enterprise applications.

  9. Ensure that ERP systems align with business requirements and maintain data consistency across workflows.

  10. Contribute to continuous improvement of testing methodologies, tools, and processes within the organization.


Requirements & Eligibility

  1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.

  2. 3 to 5 years of experience in software testing with exposure to ERP-based applications and enterprise systems.

  3. Familiarity with ERP platforms such as SAP, Oracle eBusiness Suite, Oracle Flexcube, Finacle, Guidewire, or similar solutions.

  4. Strong understanding of software testing principles, methodologies, and best practices.

  5. Experience in both manual and automation testing techniques for enterprise applications.

  6. Knowledge of business domains and the ability to understand functional requirements within ERP workflows.

  7. Experience in test planning, test case design, and execution across multiple testing phases.

  8. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify defects and improve software quality.

  9. Ability to work collaboratively in Agile environments and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.

  10. Familiarity with advanced testing techniques and domain-specific testing practices is an added advantage.

The typical salary for a Quality Engineer with 3–5 years of experience in India generally ranges between ₹10 LPA to ₹18 LPA, depending on expertise in ERP testing, automation tools, and enterprise application testing.
