Job Description
SonicWall is hiring a Test Associate Engineer in Pune, Maharashtra, for an engineering role focused on software testing, test automation, Python scripting, cybersecurity technologies, and scalable testing infrastructure. This opportunity is well suited to early-career professionals who want to develop their expertise in quality engineering while working in the cybersecurity industry. The role involves maintaining existing testing tools and infrastructure, improving scalability, developing prototypes, and creating automated tools using Python and other scripting languages. Candidates will work alongside engineers across different teams to review code and test cases, improve processes, and ensure products are developed according to defined requirements and timelines. The position provides valuable exposure to cybersecurity products, software quality assurance, automation, networking, and agile engineering practices.
As a Test Associate Engineer at SonicWall, the selected candidate will contribute to the development and testing of tools that support reliable software engineering and cybersecurity solutions. A major focus of the position is Python-based scripting and automation, with responsibilities spanning tool development, test case reviews, functional specifications, design specifications, and infrastructure improvements. Candidates may also rapidly prototype solutions to determine suitable technologies and toolkits for new features. The role requires strong troubleshooting and analytical skills because engineers must identify problems, evaluate potential solutions, and collaborate with other teams to improve testing processes. Familiarity with AWS infrastructure, networking, Internet security, firewalls, antivirus, and anti-spam technologies can provide an additional advantage for candidates entering the cybersecurity testing domain.
The role also emphasizes ownership, collaboration, documentation, communication, and continuous learning. Test Associate Engineers are expected to work independently when appropriate while contributing effectively to code reviews, test case reviews, process improvements, and cross-functional engineering activities. They may work with technical publications teams to ensure functional and design specifications are properly documented and communicate requirements and project status clearly to relevant stakeholders. SonicWall also values professionals who can adapt to a fast-paced Agile environment, manage multiple responsibilities, learn new technologies, and incorporate new ideas into their work. For candidates with a Computer Science background and practical Python experience, this opportunity can provide a strong foundation for careers in software testing, QA automation, cybersecurity testing, Python automation, network security, and quality engineering.

- Python Programming: Hands-on experience with Python is strongly valuable for developing testing tools, automation scripts, prototypes, and utilities that support software quality and engineering workflows.
- Software Testing Knowledge: Candidates should understand fundamental software testing concepts, test case development, test execution, defect identification, test reviews, and quality assurance practices.
- Automation Skills: Familiarity with test automation, scripting, and automation frameworks is beneficial because the position involves building and improving tools that streamline software testing activities.
- AWS Infrastructure: Experience or familiarity with AWS infrastructure is a major advantage, particularly for candidates interested in cloud-based testing environments and cybersecurity products operating across modern infrastructure.
- Cybersecurity Knowledge: Understanding of Internet security, firewalls, antivirus, and anti-spam technologies is beneficial and can help candidates better understand SonicWall’s cybersecurity-focused products and testing requirements.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Candidates should have strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to investigate technical issues and develop practical solutions independently.
- Communication & Teamwork: Excellent written and verbal communication skills are important for working with engineers, technical publications teams, project stakeholders, and different cross-functional groups.
- Adaptability & Ownership: Candidates should demonstrate a strong sense of ownership, self-motivation, willingness to learn new technologies, ability to multitask, and comfort working in a fast-paced Agile engineering environment.
