Job Description:

Barclays is hiring a GenAI Engineer in Pune to join its Global Payment Services technology team, focusing on building next-generation AI-driven solutions in the fintech space. This role is centered around developing and deploying Generative AI (GenAI) applications, including Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines, prompt engineering workflows, and AI-powered automation systems. As part of Barclays’ digital transformation journey, you will contribute to creating intelligent systems that enhance data accessibility, decision-making, and operational efficiency across financial services.

In this role, you will design and implement scalable and secure GenAI solutions by integrating Large Language Models (LLMs) with enterprise data sources, APIs, and data platforms. You will work on building robust data pipelines, data lakes, and warehousing solutions while ensuring data quality, governance, and compliance. The position requires strong expertise in Python, database systems, and AI/ML concepts, enabling you to develop high-performance solutions that meet enterprise-grade requirements. You will also collaborate closely with data scientists, engineers, and platform teams to deploy machine learning models into production environments.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and optimize GenAI solutions, including RAG pipelines and prompt engineering workflows for enterprise applications.
• Develop and maintain data pipelines, data lakes, and data warehouses to support AI-driven systems.
• Integrate Large Language Models (LLMs) with enterprise data sources, APIs, and services for intelligent automation.
• Implement secure, scalable, and high-performance AI components aligned with organizational governance standards.
• Collaborate with data scientists and engineering teams to deploy and monitor machine learning models in production.
• Develop algorithms for data processing, analysis, and synthetic data generation.
• Ensure data quality, security, and compliance through proper data masking, anonymization, and governance practices.
• Work with CI/CD pipelines and version control systems to streamline development and deployment processes.
• Analyze system performance and optimize AI models and workflows for efficiency and scalability.
• Communicate technical solutions and insights effectively to stakeholders and cross-functional teams.

Requirements & Eligibility:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 2–5 years of experience in AI/ML, data engineering, or software development roles.
• Strong experience in implementing GenAI solutions using Large Language Models (LLMs).
• Knowledge of prompt engineering, RAG pipelines, and LLM API integration.
• Proficiency in Python for building AI/ML applications and data processing pipelines.
• Good understanding of databases, including Oracle/SQL, and experience with Unix-based systems.
• Experience working with APIs, SDKs, and integration frameworks.
• Familiarity with embeddings, model fine-tuning, and synthetic data generation techniques.
• Understanding of data modeling, schema design, and data governance practices such as masking and anonymization.
• Exposure to cloud platforms, CI/CD tools, Git workflows, and Agile methodologies is an added advantage.

Expected Salary:

The expected salary for a GenAI Engineer at Barclays in Pune typically ranges between ₹15 LPA to ₹30 LPA, depending on experience, expertise in AI/ML technologies, and proficiency in building scalable data and GenAI systems.
