Job Description

HSBC is hiring a Junior Test Analyst to join its technology and change delivery team in Bangalore. This role focuses on ensuring the quality, compliance, and reliability of systems that support critical banking operations. The Junior Test Analyst will play a key role in validating system changes, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting business transformation initiatives.

The role involves designing and executing structured test cases across system, functional, and regression testing phases. The candidate will work closely with business analysts, developers, and stakeholders to understand requirements, build test plans, and ensure traceability between requirements and test outcomes. With a strong emphasis on defect management, the analyst will log, track, and retest issues while maintaining detailed documentation and audit-ready evidence in line with governance standards.

In addition to testing execution, the role requires supporting User Acceptance Testing (UAT) cycles and validating financial data outputs, reports, and control mechanisms. The candidate will also contribute to ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, making this role particularly important within the financial services domain. This position offers an excellent opportunity to build expertise in banking systems, regulatory testing, and enterprise-level quality assurance processes.


Roles & Responsibilities

  1. Review business and functional requirements to understand testing scope and regulatory impacts.

  2. Design, document, and maintain test cases ensuring full traceability to requirements.

  3. Execute system, functional, and regression test cases and record results accurately.

  4. Log and track defects with clear reproduction steps and retest fixes after resolution.

  5. Maintain defect logs and participate in defect triage discussions with technology teams.

  6. Prepare and maintain audit-ready test documentation and evidence.

  7. Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) cycles by coordinating with business users.

  8. Validate financial data outputs, reports, and control mechanisms for accuracy.

  9. Assist in building test plans, schedules, and defining entry/exit criteria.

  10. Communicate risks, issues, and progress updates to stakeholders in a timely manner.


Requirements & Eligibility

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Finance, or related fields.

  2. 2 to 5 years of experience in software testing or QA, preferably in financial services.

  3. Strong understanding of SDLC, testing lifecycle, and change management processes.

  4. Hands-on experience in executing functional, system, and regression testing.

  5. Familiarity with test management and defect tracking tools such as JIRA, ALM, or Zephyr.

  6. Ability to interpret business requirements and convert them into test scenarios.

  7. Strong attention to detail with focus on documentation and audit compliance.

  8. Experience working with datasets and validating calculations and reports.

  9. Awareness of regulatory and control requirements in banking environments.

  10. Good communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
