Job Description

Barclays is hiring an Application Developer in Pune to strengthen its Global Payment Services technology division. This permanent role focuses on building scalable, secure, and high-performance backend applications that power global payment systems. As part of Barclays’ technology organization, you will contribute to the evolution of infrastructure and deployment pipelines while ensuring seamless delivery of digital financial solutions across global markets.

In this role, you will design and develop applications using Core Java and Spring Boot, build REST APIs for enterprise integrations, and manage data persistence with Oracle DB. Roles & Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and enhance backend applications using Core Java and Spring Boot frameworks.

• Build and maintain RESTful APIs to support payment processing and integration services.

• Develop scalable database solutions using Oracle DB and optimize queries for performance.

• Implement JUnit-based unit testing to ensure code reliability and maintainability.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical solutions aligned with business objectives.

• Participate in peer code reviews and promote best practices in secure coding and architecture.

• Optimize application performance through fine-tuning and efficient resource management.

• Integrate applications into CI/CD pipelines and support deployment automation processes.

• Adhere to secure coding standards to mitigate vulnerabilities and protect sensitive financial data.

• Monitor and manage risk while ensuring compliance with regulatory and governance frameworks.

Requirements & Eligibility

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

• Strong experience in Core Java and Spring Boot development.

• Hands-on experience building REST APIs and microservices-based applications.

• Proficiency in Oracle DB and SQL-based database management.

• Experience with JUnit for unit testing and validation.

• Knowledge of MongoDB and Kafka (preferred).

• Understanding of performance tuning and optimization techniques.

• Familiarity with secure coding standards and enterprise architecture principles.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional, global technology teams.
