Job Description

As a Test Automation Engineer at Rockwell Automation, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of software products used in industrial automation worldwide. This role sits within the Control and Visualization Business, where teams build advanced software solutions that help manufacturers operate more efficiently, safely, and sustainably.

You will collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to design, develop, and execute automated test strategies across APIs and web-based applications. The role encourages continuous learning, experimentation with new testing tools, and contribution to a collaborative, feedback-driven engineering culture. You’ll work closely with developers, architects, and product teams to validate complex systems that power real-world industrial operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Collect, analyze, and document requirements for features and components, ensuring testability and traceability.

• Design, develop, and execute automated test suites to achieve comprehensive functional and integration coverage.

• Perform REST API testing and validate backend services; experience testing Angular-based applications is an advantage.

• Support Security Remote Access (SRA) testing, with at least one year of hands-on experience in this domain.

• Develop unit test plans and participate in system and integration testing activities.

• Identify, debug, document, and track software defects through resolution.

• Participate in reviews of design documents, code, test cases, and user documentation.

• Ensure documented test cases align with software specifications and requirements.

• Analyze test results, determine root causes of defects, and support corrective actions.

• Research and adopt new testing tools, technologies, and best practices.

• Stay current with trends in software engineering, automation, and complex control systems.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.

• Minimum 2 years of experience in a software product development environment.

• Hands-on experience with automated test tools and software testing methodologies.

• Experience testing integrated software products.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with web technologies such as HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, and Angular.

• Programming experience in C++, C#, or similar languages.

• Knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design principles.

• Experience architecting or testing modular software systems.

• Exposure to the Industrial Automation domain.

• Experience collaborating with global, distributed engineering teams.

• Advanced proficiency in English (written and spoken).
